Work Experience
Jochen Schweizer mydays Group - Munich
Senior Frontend Software Engineer
May 2021 — Present- Platform ownership. Core contributor (5+ years) to the fragment-based micro-frontend platform behind two of Germany's leading experience-gifting ecommerce brands (jochen-schweizer.de, mydays.de, part of the ProSiebenSat.1 Media Group). Primary maintainer of the platform's highest-traffic product discovery surface, authoring ~15% of its commit history since 2021 across 41 of the platform's ~50 microservices, spanning a shared catalog of 9,000+ bookable experiences.
- Architecture and backend. Build fragments for a server-side composition architecture in which a dedicated NestJS orchestration service assembles full pages in parallel from fragment HTML via a custom templating engine, with Kafka-driven redirect handling and Nginx reverse proxy routing at the edge. Develop NestJS services (product data, navigation, catalog indexing) and AWS Lambda@Edge functions for CDN-level logic, including personalization payloads and third-party script cleanup.
- Design system. Contribute to the shared design system (330+ commits over 5 years), built on React Aria and React Stately for accessible-by-default UI primitives, validated through Storybook's accessibility tooling.
- Personalization and experimentation. Led the integration of the Dynamic Yield personalization platform and Algolia search across product listing and detail pages, including the homepage hero banner, product recommendation experiences, and dedicated conversion-tracking instrumentation. Implement feature-flagged rollouts and A/B tests for pricing, filtering, and merchandising experiences.
- Performance and SEO. Work on frontend SEO and Core Web Vitals, including structured data (schema.org), crawlability improvements, and performance monitoring with Lighthouse and RUMvision.
- Quality and delivery. Contribute to an internal Jest- and Puppeteer-based synthetic testing service that continuously runs scheduled backend and frontend UI test journeys in production, with Allure reporting; maintain unit and component test coverage and resolve issues surfaced by Sentry and SonarQube. Own CI/CD pipeline work, including GitLab CI and container registry migrations across multiple services, in Agile cross-functional teams with backend engineers, designers, QA, and product stakeholders.

SpecLens
AI agent skill, co-built with colleagues during a company hackathon, that reviews an implemented UI against its Jira ticket and Figma design: it measures the real DOM in Chrome at each breakpoint and posts one evidence-based comment to the ticket, tracking New, Still Open and Fixed findings across runs.

Elfin Market
Peer-to-peer lending and financial exchange platform, with the front end built in AngularJS and Angular Material.
Event-Driven Ticketing Platform
Personal project exploring event-driven microservices: five independent Node/TypeScript services (auth, tickets, orders, payments, expiration) communicating exclusively through NATS Streaming, each with its own MongoDB, Stripe payments, Redis-backed automatic order expiration, and a shared internal npm package for cross-service types and middleware.

I care about the details - from performance to accessibility - and enjoy collaborating with teams to ship products that feel as good as they work.
Outside of work, I'm usually watching a good movie or series, deep into a video game, out hiking or walking, or with my nose in a book.
